The Mushafen in Bern was a post-Reformation charity foundation .

In 1528, Bern donated the Mushafen in the abolished preacher's monastery based on Huldrych Zwingli's alms order from 1525 . The Mushafen fed the poor, needy students and pupils daily with mush , bread and beef on days determined by donors .

The Mushafen was run by the Mushafen attendant, a member of the Grand Council, until 1798. The Mushafen was a municipal office (Vogtei) of the fourth class.
