Jacob Bastiampillai Deogupillai (born April 9, 1917 in Karampon , † April 25, 2003 ) was Bishop of Jaffna .

Life

Jacob Bastiampillai Deogupillai was ordained a priest on December 22, 1941 .

Paul VI appointed him on February 9, 1967 auxiliary bishop in Trincomalee and titular bishop of Mozotcori . The Bishop of Trincomalee, Ignatius Philip Trigueros Glennie S.J. , consecrated him bishop on May 11th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Frank Marcus Fernando , Auxiliary Bishop in Colombo in Ceylon , and Jerome Emilianus Pillai OMI , Bishop of Jaffna.

The Pope appointed him Bishop of Jaffna on December 18, 1972 . On July 6, 1992, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
