Thomas Savundaranayagam (born July 22, 1938 in Kayts , Sri Lanka ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Jaffna .

Life

Thomas Savundaranayagam was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Jaffna on December 21, 1963 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Mannar on January 24, 1981 . The Bishop of Jaffna, Jacob Bastiampillai Deogupillai , donated him episcopal ordination on July 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Nicholas Marcus Fernando , Archbishop of Colombo , and Frank Marcus Fernando , Bishop of Chilaw .

On July 6, 1992, he was appointed Bishop of Jaffna. Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 13, 2015.
