Rayappu Joseph
Rayappu Joseph (born April 16, 1940 in Neduntheevu , Sri Lanka ) is a Sri Lankan clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Mannar .
Life
Rayappu Joseph received on 13 December 1967, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On July 6, 1992, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Mannar . The Bishop of Jaffna , Thomas Savundaranayagam , ordained him episcopally on October 20 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Sri Lanka, Archbishop François Robert Bacqué , and the Archbishop of Colombo , Nicholas Marcus Fernando .
Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 14, 2016.
