François Robert Bacqué

François Robert Bacqué (born September 2, 1936 in Bordeaux , France ) is a former diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

François Bacqué was ordained a priest on October 1, 1966 . Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on June 18, 1982 .

On June 17, 1988, John Paul II appointed him Titular Archbishop of Gradisca and Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Sri Lanka . The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli on 3 September of the same year; Co- consecrators were Marius Maziers , Archbishop of Bordeaux , and Thierry Jordan , Coadjutor Bishop of Pontoise .

On June 7, 1994, John Paul II called him Apostolic Nuncio in the Dominican Republic and on February 27, 2001, Apostolic Nuncio in the Netherlands.

Pope Benedict XVI accepted on December 15, 2011 Bacqué's resignation due to reasons of age.
