The Wäber family comes from Merenschwand and has been a citizen of the city of Bern since 1544 .

Branches of the family belong to the guild society for blacksmiths and the society for merchants , extinct lines of society for Pfistern and the guild society for butchers . The descendants of the theologian Johannes Wäber worked as clergymen, scribes, carpenters, butchers, dyers and artisans.
