Johannes Wäber
Johannes Wäber (also Johannes Textor or Textorius ) (born January 6, 1499 in Spreitenbach , † August 25, 1577 in Bern ) was a Swiss theologian.
Johannes Wäber was the son of the weaver Hans Büler and Margaretha Leuthard from Merenschwand . He attended school in Zurich from 1511 to 1513 and was then a scholar in Bern , Aarau , St. Gallen , Neuburg an der Donau , Nuremberg , Schwabach , Erfurt , Coburg and Ansbach . He was ordained a priest in 1522 and was pastor of Hedingen until 1532 , where he held a concubine from 1522 to 1524, whose name was unknown. In 1524 he joined the Reformation and married Margaretha Siggenthaler (1494–1553), the former abbess of Rathausen . In 1532 he lost his pastor and in 1533 became a preacher in Aarau. In 1544 he became a helper at the Bern Minster , received the Bernese citizen law and in 1548 was appointed professor there. In 1553 he married Elisabeth Bannwart (1531–1567) from Schafhausen . For reasons of age he was dismissed from the ministry in 1565 with a personal asset, but remained a member of the convent. In 1568 he married his maid Dorothea Grendelmeier. With his third marriage he turned the Small Council and the Convention against him in such a way that he was punished as pastor on the Staufberg , which he could only avert by an appeal to the Small Council.
