The High Hopes Choir is an Irish homeless choir that was formed in 2014 as part of a television program on the public broadcaster RTÉ One .
Band history
Former conductor of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, David Brophy, created two choirs, one in Dublin and one in Watford , with the help of three Irish charities , attracting homeless people from both cities. Choir rehearsals and a public performance took place for several weeks before the singers got together and recorded a single together. The song for a benefit single, which also gave the project its name, was High Hopes by the Irish band Kodaline . They were supported by Shane Filan and Ed Sheeran and accompanied by the RTÉ orchestra. The single was released just before Christmas and reached number 5 on the charts. The song was also performed live on television and the choir performed with Brian Kennedy and Lisa Hannigan at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. The project was accompanied by television and broadcast in three episodes in December 2014. The proceeds from the sales will go equally to the Dublin Simon Community, Saint Vincent De Paul and Focus Ireland.
