Kodaline is an Irish alternative rock - band from Dublin .

history

The band originally began under the name 21 Demands and was formed in Swords in north Dublin in 2005 . Singer Steven Garrigan and guitarist Mark Prendergast had known each other from the neighborhood and from the school choir since they were eight. Six years later they met the later drummer Vinny May know. Conor Linnane completed the quartet as bassist. The year after its inception, they took part in the fifth season of You're a Star on Irish television . They took second place and then released the song Give Me a Minute . Not only was the song the first number one hit on the Irish charts to come about solely through downloads, the band was also the first record -breaking top hit . In the following years, however, they were unable to build on their success. With the separation from Linnane in 2011 came the end of the 21 Demands .

The remaining three then continued with the new bass player Jason Boland under the new name Kodaline . The following year they drew attention to themselves with the EP Kodaline . The song All I Want became a hit on the internet and found use in the television series Grey's Anatomy, Castle and The Vampire Diaries . The song was released as a single in autumn 2012 and reached number 15 in Ireland. The music press rediscovered it and included it in their predictions for successful artists of the year 2013 (e.g. Sound of 2013 by the BBC, Brand New for 2013 by MTV ) on. Her debut album In a Perfect World was released in June 2013. Since 2014, All I Want has also been part of the soundtrack of the film Fate is a lousy traitor based on a book by John Green . The song High Hopes , which was released in 2013, is part of the soundtrack of the German number one film Fack ju Göhte . In late 2014, the Irish homeless project High Hopes Choir was founded, which covered their number one hit High Hopes and brought it back to the charts.
