José de Jesús María Uriarte y Pérez (born December 12, 1824 in Badiraguato , Sinaloa , Mexico , † May 26, 1887 in Culiacán ) was Bishop of Sinaloa .

Life

José de Jesús María Uriarte y Pérez entered the seminary in Culiacán and studied Catholic theology and philosophy . He received on 22 September 1850 by the Bishop of Sonora , José Lázaro de la Garza y Ballesteros , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Then Uriarte y Pérez was pastor in Quilá . In 1854 José de Jesús María Uriarte y Pérez Regens was appointed to the seminary in Culiacán.

On June 25, 1869, Pope Pius IX appointed him . to the Bishop of Sonora. José de Jesús María Uriarte y Pérez received the episcopal ordination on March 13, 1870 . The inauguration took place on April 10th of the same year. On August 9, 1883, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the first bishop of Sinaloa. The inauguration took place on December 8th of the same year.
