Shane Filan (* 5 July 1979 in Sligo as Shane Steven Filan ) is an Irish pop singer who particularly through its membership in the band Westlife became known.
biography
Filan grew up as the youngest of seven siblings in the small town of Sligo, where his parents ran a takeout called Calton Café. He was enthusiastic about music and dance from an early age: he learned the moonwalk as a teenager and took part in a school performance of the musical Grease . Besides the music, riding was one of his favorite hobbies. His parents have a stud farm on the outskirts of Sligos, where Shane can still relax by sitting on one of his horses. His horse is called "Calton Clover" and that of his wife Gillian "Calton Sylvester". The names of the horses all start with "Calton", in memory of the café.
The first group of which he was a member, IOYOU , barely got beyond regional popularity, including some television appearances. From this boy group , under the aegis of Boyzone manager Louis Walsh, the group Westlife emerged , as a member of which he became known to a primarily young audience from 1999. He mainly appears as a singer, but is named as the co-composer of some of the group's songs - for example the top 10 single Bop Bop Baby .
After Westlife broke up, he released his debut single Everything to Me in August 2013 . His first solo album You and Me was released in November 2013.
Filan has been married to Gillian Walsh, a cousin of Kian Egan , since December 28, 2003 , with whom he has a daughter (* 2005) and two sons (* 2008 and * 2010). The family lives in Surrey, near London.
