The Lyss observation tower is on the Kreuzhöhe in the forest above Lyss in the canton of Bern . It was built on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the Lyss community in 2009.
Together with sponsors from the local trade and private patrons, the Lyss observation tower association, Lyss personnel forest corporation, built the tower. It gives visitors an overview of Lyss and the surrounding area and offers a 360 degree view of the Jura and the Alps . The inauguration ceremony took place on December 12, 2009. The festival marked the end of Lyss' 1000th anniversary.
situation
The tower, built in 2009 from Douglas fir and spruce , is 38 meters high. 180 steps lead to the viewing platform at a height of 34 meters.
The platform offers a view over Lyss to the Jura and the Bernese Alps .
The observation tower can be reached from Lyss in around five minutes.
