The Bantiger TV Tower is a 192.2 meter high TV tower in reinforced concrete just below the summit of Mount Bantiger (947 meters above sea level) at Bolligen in Switzerland . Construction began in 1992 and the inauguration took place in 1997.
history
The current television tower replaces a transmission tower from 1954 that was 60 meters high. The reason for the construction was the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, where matches were broadcast live for the first time in Europe. The signal distribution was via radio relay via the Bantiger and Jungfraujoch. Construction of today's tower began in 1992; The inauguration took place in 1997.

description
The Bern-Bantiger television tower has a viewing platform at a height of 42.2 meters, which is accessible via an outside staircase with 154 steps. Above the publicly accessible platform there is a glazed directional radio booth that is not accessible to the public. The directional radio antennas are located below this pulpit . The tower shaft has a diameter of 32 meters and tapers up to 16.8 meters. At the height of 60.9 meters, a 126.8 meter high antenna mast continues, which houses TV and VHF antennas. The antenna mast, which is more than twice as long in relation to the tower shaft , defines the style of this television tower.
The television tower can be reached in 20 minutes on foot from a parking lot near Stettlen .
Guided tours for visitors (max. 25 people, duration 60 minutes) and the use of a meeting room (max. 15 people) are possible.
