The Rigi transmitter is a Swisscom transmitter on the Rigi , a 1798 meter high mountain in Central Switzerland . A 96 meter high, free-standing reinforced concrete tower, which was built from 1995 to 1997 and has a publicly accessible visitor platform at a height of 6 meters, serves as the antenna carrier. This transmission tower replaced an older, 50-meter-high transmission tower with a tubular slot antenna (called “Rigi-Nadel”) from 1964.
The radio programs broadcast from here can be received not only in Central Switzerland, but also far north as far as Germany.
