The Lieli ruins are the ruins of a hilltop castle with a viewing platform in the municipality of Lieli in the canton of Lucerne . It is also called "Nünegg" because of its characteristic shape with nine corners.
Emergence
The castle was built in 1283 by the Lords of Lieli. After they died out, the castle changed hands several times until it went up in flames in the turmoil of the Sempach War in 1386 . Around 1700 the ruins came into the possession of the Canton of Lucerne.
restoration
The castle underwent its first restoration from 1929 to 1931, and others followed in 1974 and 1984.
After the turn of the millennium, the condition of the ruins deteriorated rapidly and the castle threatened to fall apart. In 2011 the castle tower, which was in danger of collapsing, was secured with a steel corset. The urgently needed overall conservation was carried out between 2014 and 2016, including removing harmful growth from the masonry. In 2016 a spiral staircase was installed in the castle tower.
situation
50 steps lead to the viewing platform at a height of 10 meters.
The platform offers a view of the village of Lieli and the Baldeggersee .
