T-DAB frequency
The T-DAB frequency (T-DAB for short) is a radio channel for the terrestrial transmission of digital radio in the DAB + or DAB format . Each channel takes up a bandwidth of 1.536 MHz. In order to accommodate these DAB + / DAB signals in the (formerly analogue) television reception channels (especially in the 7 MHz channel grid of VHF band III ), each channel was divided into four blocks from A to D. Exceptions are the channels 10, 11 and 12, each with an additional channel N and the 10 MHz wide channel 13 with 13E and 13F, which are z. T. cannot be used.
When selecting the exact frequency, further boundary conditions had to be taken into account:
- sufficiently large “guard bands”, ie frequency distances to the neighboring frequency blocks and band limits
- The best possible location of the frequency blocks for better compatibility with analog television that was still predominant in 1995
- a block center frequency that can be divided by 16 kHz in order not to unnecessarily increase the effort on the receiver side ( PLL in 16 kHz grid)

Broadcasting band II (VHF band II)
(So far not used for T-DAB.)
In Band II (87.5–108 MHz), no DAB blocks have yet been explicitly specified. At the moment, broadcasts in this band are exclusively in analog frequency modulation (FM).

10N, 11N and 12N are blocks which CENELEC has shifted by +160 kHz compared to the respective block A in order to avoid the sound carrier of an analog television channel in the channel below. When scanning these blocks, some receivers find a weak signal from block A and therefore list its services twice, whereby the duplicates on block N are usually too weak to hear. Since when using block N, not only block A but also block B cannot be used because of the low guard band, there are - at least in Europe and Australia - no broadcasts on block N. The same problem also occurs with block 13C and 13D (see below), both of which are therefore not used.
Channel 13
The so-called channel 13 is approved for T-DAB in some CEPT countries. In other countries, it is used for other purposes (including Germany, Austria and Switzerland). In terms of frequency, it connects to channel 12 above, but has a width of 10 MHz, which is why there is space for six DAB blocks. The blocks 13C and 13D, however, have a smaller frequency spacing (guard band) than usual. In Germany, channel 13 is identified in the cable as S11 and S12.

Valid frequency coordination agreement for T-DAB in Europe:

In the course of the digital dividend 2 , the frequency band 1452–1492 MHz was auctioned off to mobile phone providers in Germany . For this purpose, the frequencies have been approved for the use of mobile communications services (especially LTE ). Use for DVB-T, DAB + or similar is therefore unlikely in Germany, but still possible.
