The Eggberg transmitter is a transmitter of the Südwestrundfunk (formerly the Südwestfunk ) for the transmission of radio and television signals. It is located on the 709 meter high Eggberg north of Bad Säckingen . A 68 meter high freestanding steel lattice tower serves as the antenna carrier .
history
The transmitter was formerly used as a filler transmitter for the Upper Rhine area and broadcast the SWF1 program on the frequency 89.5 MHz with an output of 0.6 kW, as part of the further network expansion on the Upper Rhine, in particular the commissioning of the frequencies from the St. Chrischona television tower , the transmitter became superfluous and was switched off. Today it only serves to broadcast Swiss programs.
