Radio SRF 4 News is the sixth public German-speaking Swiss radio station operated by SRG SSR . As the name of the radio station suggests, most of the content on SRF 4 News consists of news. The station broadcasts a current edition of the SRF Nachrichten every 30 minutes , and a short version of the current news is broadcast Monday through Friday, for fourteen hours at every quarter of an hour. Since the transmitter is a pure message sender, date reports is within the scope of breaking news ( breaking news ) possible, which for example in Radio SRF 3 and Radio SRF 2 culture was hardly possible, and on Radio SRF 1 has been partly practiced.
In addition to the news, Radio SRF 4 broadcasts interviews and sports, business, science and culture magazines. The talk of the day is sent from Monday to Friday at 1 p.m. The well-known news program Echo der Zeit is broadcast daily at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. On the evenings from Monday to Friday and on the following nights, almost every half hour, along with the latest news, the daily summary That was the day is broadcast, a cut-out of Echo der Zeit, Rendez-vous and other news programs from the previous day. Two days after the Federal Council had granted licenses for two new digitally broadcast radio programs on June 27, 2007, SRG announced that it would be launching DRS 4 News in addition to World Radio Switzerland . The reception area of DRS 4 News via DAB is limited to German-speaking Switzerland, that of World Radio Switzerland to French- and Italian-speaking Switzerland.
A few days before the start, the new radio station was added to the DAB network under the name DRS 4 NEWS . Until the start on November 5, 2007, announcements, examples and descriptions of the radio station were broadcast in a loop. The first news broadcast aired at 6:00 a.m. on November 5th.
Since November 15, 2016, Radio SRF 4 News can also be heard in Italian- and French-speaking Switzerland on DAB + . The programs are also available as podcasts . Streaming audio available.
