SRF Zwei is the second television program from Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF), a corporate unit of SRG SSR . The program focuses on sports broadcasts as well as current and in-depth magazine programs from the sports sector. Feature films and series are often broadcast as free TV premieres and in two-channel sound , with the broadcaster mainly taking into account European series productions (see Bedrag , Babylon Berlin ). The 24-hour program also offers a selection of documentaries or takes on scientific programs such as nano ( 3sat ) or Einstein ( SRF 1 ) from partner stations . The station also sporadically tests new forms of broadcasting such as slow TV or binge watching .
program
SRF Zwei mainly offers programs aimed at a younger audience who are enthusiastic about sports. In addition to sports programs, the program often features series such as the self-produced series Seitentriebe or event series such as “Follow the Money” and feature films. The broadcaster repeatedly orders current documentary series or focuses on key topics. In the early evening are series and changing cooking shows (u. A. With Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver ) to see.

history
On September 1, 1997, SRF two began broadcasting under the name "SF 2" at the time. It was the German-speaking successor to the nationwide Swiss program Switzerland 4 (formerly: S Plus ). The “sportaktuell” program has been an integral part of the program since the first day of broadcast . The first faces of the station were from the first day of broadcast u. a. Mona Vetsch , Susanne Kunz , Jann Billeter and Sascha Ruefer . Sven Epiney moderated the daily quiz show Blockbusters from 1997 to 2000 , before celebrating its premiere on SF 2 in 2001 with the cooking quiz show Al dente .
From 1998 to 2003, SF two broadcast a Nickelodeon program window Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. , which also broadcast a lot of old trailers, in-house productions, and the so-called Nicktoons from Nickelodeon Germany; there were also live broadcasts where children could play various games over the phone. From September 2003 to December 31, 2006, Nickelodeon was replaced by "Junior", which ran every day, ie on weekdays from 11 am to 2 pm and on weekends from 7 am to 10 am.
In the case of “Junior”, the concept was maintained with live shows and the moderators already known from Nickelodeon - now moderated from the “Junior Studio”. As of January 1, 2007, the program was replaced by “SF Tubii”, although the broadcasting time was retained. For its part, “SF Tubii” was replaced on August 30, 2010 by the tri-media children's program Zambo . This was postponed to SF 1 on February 29, 2012 , because the program line was canceled too often due to the sports program on SF Zwei and the target group wanted to create a reliable slot for the target group. Other program reforms have also been made. For example, the animated series The Simpsons was removed from the program due to poor audience ratings. The series was replaced by in-house productions that change daily, such as “Box Office” or the talk show “Focus”.
Previous broadcasts:
- The experiment - where is your limit? : Survival adventure show
- Roboclip: music videos
- Musicnight: music program with recorded concerts and music videos (Thursday night)
- Zambo , (1998–2003: “Nickelodeon”, 2003–2006: “Junior”, 2006–2010 SF tubii ): children's program (afternoons; cartoons, game shows, real-life series, etc.)
-
PresseTV has its own broadcasting license and broadcast various magazines produced by various print media on the weekend .
- NZZ Format : Monothematic magazine of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung
- MotorShow: car magazine
- Cash TV: Business magazine of the business newspaper CASH
- Cash talk: interview with a manager
- Viewpoints: Discussion with journalists , politicians and experts
- 100 minutes: Takeover of programs such as Spiegel TV reportage from Germany
On December 2, 2005, the stations SF 1 and SF 2 were given a new look (as SF 1 and SF two) and were more clearly separated from each other. On February 29, 2012, the switch to HD ( 720p / 50) followed. Since December 16, 2012 the program is called SRF Zwei. Broadcasting via digital aerial television was discontinued across Switzerland on June 3, 2019.
