Zambo (children's program)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zambo or SRF Zambo is the multimedia children's program on Swiss Radio and Television (SRF).

Zambo's offer consists of a daily radio program on Radio SRF 1 from 7 to 8 p.m., an online community for children, various web formats and a diverse range of radio plays (as part of the radio program and as a podcast).

Zambo on the radio

In the daily radio program, which is broadcast live on Radio SRF 1 from 7 to 8 p.m., there are the following categories and program items:

  • Radio plays and stories for children : From Sunday to Thursday there are radio plays for children from eight to twelve years on the radio on «Zambo». Many of the radio plays are also available for download as podcasts.
  • Music requests
  • «Know-it-all» : With the radio game «Know-it-all», the phone caller can decide whether an assertion - made by the greenhorn - is correct or not. If the phone caller is right, he wins.
  • "Wish i d'Nacht" : At the end of the radio show, "Zambo" plays a wish that was recorded in advance with children.
  • «Zamboskop» : The «Zamboskop» is about child-friendly information on current affairs.
  • «Durchblicker»: In the «Durchblicker» , everyday questions from children are answered in an understandable and entertaining way.
  • "Zambo Charts" : Every Friday, Michel Birri moderates the Zambo hit parade show. In the “Zambo Charts”, the children determine the outcome by voting in the community and suggest new songs for the next vote.
  • “Treasure hunter” : every Saturday “Zambo” sets off on a journey through Switzerland. In the radio game you have to overcome obstacles, answer questions and solve tricky puzzles. Whoever manages that wins a prize.

Zambo on the web: Community

The srfzambo.ch website : On srfzambo.ch, the most important content from the radio is processed and made accessible online. The multimedia editors also develop their own and additional content (text, sound, video).

Community : Under 15-year-olds can register for “Zambo” via the website and become members of the community. As a member there is the possibility to write blogs, to befriend other Zambo members and to chat. Zambo is considered to be one of the safest communities, especially since the identity of every child is checked beforehand by telephone to ensure that only children are in the community and that the parents are informed. The profile is only activated after this check.

The community gives many children the chance to participate in the design of the program. For example, every user can vote for the best song of the week on the “Zambo Charts” every day. The “Zambo Charts” can be heard every Friday as part of the “Zambo” radio broadcast on SRF 1.

At «Zambo» children can apply to be child reporters. They have the opportunity to actively help shape Zambo's offer with their own contributions such as interviews or background reports.

history

Children's programs have been available under different names since Radio SRF was founded in 1931 (including 1991–2008: “Looping” / 1995–2008: “SiggSaggSugg” / 2008–2010: “ Pirando ”). Since 2010 the children's program has been called “Zambo”. “Zambo” was created when the children's editorial offices of Schweizer Fernsehen and Schweizer Radio DRS merged.
