Swiss Diabetes Society

The Swiss Diabetes Society (SDG) ( Association Suisse du Diabète (ASD) / Associazione Svizzera per il Diabete (ASD) ) represents regional and cantonal diabetes societies as well as the Swiss Diabetes Foundation (SDS), the Swiss Society for Endocrinology and Diabetology SGED, the advisory section and organizations with a self-help character, which together cover the whole of Switzerland.

The company was founded in 1957. The aim of the association is to improve the situation of diabetics in Switzerland in the interests of the International Diabetes Federation , in particular to provide appropriate instruction, to promote help for self-help and psychosocial support for those affected and their relatives, to educate the public and to provide early detection of diabetes and support research into scientific and social problems of the disease. As a patient organization, the association represents the concerns of diabetics from an interdisciplinary perspective vis-à-vis stakeholders, especially from politics, industry and science.

  • Political representation of interests at the federal level and in the (pre-) parliamentary process
  • Agreements with authorities and service providers
  • Coordination of the cantonal and regional diabetes societies
  • Training for professionals in the diabetes and nutrition sector
  • Providing information brochures and documents

Regional diabetes societies

The 20 regional diabetes societies are a contact point for people with diabetes and their families. You will be looked after by qualified diabetes and nutritionists.
