List of members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
This list of members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame includes all musicians and other individuals who have been honored by induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was established in 1986 and is located in Cleveland , Ohio . Your task is to document the history of some of the most famous and influential musicians, bands, producers and other people who have influenced the development of the music industry and especially the field of rock 'n' roll with their work.
Originally there were four categories for admission into the Hall of Fame: "performers", "non-performers", "early influences" and "lifetime achievement". In 2000, the "Sidemen" category was also introduced. The only category that has had new members every year since its inception is the category "Artists". Recording can take place at the earliest 25 years after an artist's first record or CD was released.
Members
Performers
The “Performers” category was set up for musicians and bands who have a special influence and a central role in the development and preservation of Rock'n Roll (“influence and significance to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll”) To be nominated and accepted 25 years after the publication of their first recordings. They have to be proposed by a committee and then approved in an election by 500 selected experts. The artists with the most votes and at the same time more than 50% of all votes are included.
Early influences
Artists included in the Early Influences category are those whose music prior to the rock and roll era had a major impact on the development of rock and roll and is seen as the inspiration for leading rock musicians. ("Whose music predated rock and roll but had an impact on the evolution of rock and roll and inspired rock's leading artists") Unlike in the artist category, the members are selected by a separate committee, the process is only partially transparent.
Life's work
The following people were honored for their life's work as non-artists (“Lifetime Achievement in the Non-Performer Category”).

However, some of the members of this category are also known as artists. The members are selected by the same committee that selects the Early Influences, the selection process is only partially transparent. In 2008, this category was renamed the "Ahmet Ertegün Award" after the founder of the record label Atlantic Records, Ahmet Ertegün .

Multiple memberships

The only artist who has been triple recorded is Eric Clapton with the bands The Yardbirds, Cream and his solo career. Clyde McPhatter was the first artist to be recorded a second time, and together with Neil Young he was the only one who was recorded first for his solo career and then with a band. Stephen Stills is the only artist recorded twice in the same year. The band Crosby, Stills and Nash , which was recorded in 1997, is the only band whose members have been recorded in full with a second band: David Crosby with The Byrds in 1991, Stephen Stills with Buffalo Springfield in 1997 and Graham Nash with The Hollies in 2010. In the case of The Beatles (recorded in 1988), all individual members were also inducted into the Hall of Fame as solo artists until 2015.
