Richie Furay
Paul Richard "Richie" Furay (born May 9, 1944 in Yellow Springs , Ohio ) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist . He became known as a co-founder of the band Buffalo Springfield .
Life
Furay played with Stephen Stills in the band The Au Go Go Singers and together with him became one of the founding members of Buffalo Springfield . When in the late 1960s first Neil Young (initially in favor of a solo career) and then Stephen Stills left the band (he founded Crosby, Stills and Nash , Neil Young later joined) Buffalo Springfield broke up.
Furay's next band, Poco , is one of the founding fathers of country rock. In 1974 he left this group and became one of the namesake of the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band . After two released albums, this band also split.
In 1976 he founded his fourth group with The Richie Furay Band . The album I've Got a Reason , however, fell through with the audience and did not make it to the chart. After two concert tours in the late 1970s, the group broke up.
Furay has been a priest at a Christian church in Denver since the early 1980s . He occasionally appears as a solo artist or with his former band Poco and publishes solo albums at irregular intervals.
In 2006 he was in support of America and Linda Ronstadt on a concert tour and released a "secular" solo album, The Heartbeat of Love .
