Maurice Gibb ( CBE ; born December 22, 1949 in Douglas , Isle of Man , † January 12, 2003 in Miami Beach , Florida ) was a British-Australian pop musician and member of the Bee Gees .

Life

His mother was a singer, while the father led a small orchestra. Unlike twin brother Robin , who was born 35 minutes earlier, and brother Barry , he often sang in the background and played bass or keyboard. Maurice was married to the Scottish singer Lulu from 1969 to 1973 . In 1975 he married Yvonne Spenceley , from this marriage they had two children.

In 1970 he released the solo single Railroad . His solo album The Loner 1970 remained unreleased. He was "the man in the middle" - this song he wrote and sung from the Bee Gees album This is where I came in reached number 1 on the Turkish charts in March 2005.

Maurice Gibb has been an avid paintball player since 1984 and took part in national and international tournaments with his team, Royal Rat Rangers.

Maurice Gibb died on January 12, 2003 in Miami, Florida, a few days after an intestinal operation. He had previously been reanimated after cardiac arrest. His death meant the end of the Bee Gees, which had existed since 1958.

On March 4, 2007, a park (18th Street and Purdy Avenue) in Miami Beach was reopened after a renovation and officially named after him.
