High Civilization is the Bee Gees' 19th studio album . It was published by Warner Bros. in March 1991.
history
The Bee Gees followed up their successful album One on High Civilization with even more modern sounds. Bonds from Prince to the Chipmunks and inspirations from techno , which was becoming popular at the time, were incorporated. The album was not promoted as much in the US as the previous ones. The band concentrated on foreign countries, especially in German-speaking countries the album was a success, it reached number 2 in Germany , number 4 in Austria and number 6 in Switzerland .
criticism
On the website Allmusic .com critics were 2 out of 5 stars. He describes the band's musical course as "wrong". The modern bonds are in abundance. William Ruhlmann wrote: "You can't really blame a band that has had recurring success by faithfully following contemporary pop trends for trying it, but you can blame them for failing." The Chicago Tribune criticized the songs that were too long, saying that there were no singles: "True, the Bee Gees have stretched out on some previous dance smashes, but those songs could have melted this entire album."
