Blue Weaver , actually Derek John Weaver (born March 11, 1947 in Cardiff , Wales ) is a British keyboardist , songwriter and music producer .

Career

Weaver was a founding member of Amen Corner and Fair Weather . He replaced Rick Wakeman with the Strawbs when he went to Yes . After leaving the Strawbs in 1973, he played for a while on Mott the Hoople (US tour with Queen as the opening act), then with the Streetwalkers . After that he mainly worked as a studio musician, in addition to Mott the Hoople for the Pet Shop Boys , but above all with the Bee Gees , with whom he also played live from 1975 to 1980 . He composed the soundtrack for the film " Times Square - You Can Do Us All " with Tim Curry and Trini Alvarado .

He has been a director and member of The Music Producers Guild since 2009 . Since 2014 he has been touring Germany with his Bee Gees colleagues Vince Melouney and Dennis Bryon as well as the Italian Bee Gees with Massachusetts - The Bee Gees Musical .
