Idea is the third international music album by the Bee Gees .

production

The recordings for »Idea« began in January 1968 in the IBC Studios in London and were completed in July 1968, repeatedly interrupted by tours through Germany , Scandinavia and England . After the only moderate success of the single "Jumbo", a guitar-heavy rock song, producer Robert Stigwood decided to focus more on ballads again on this album. With “Such A Shame” a composition by guitarist Vince Melouney was featured on European editions of the album (in the USA this title was replaced by the then current single “I've Gotta Get a Message to You”).

Except for “Swan Song” from 1967, all songs on the album were composed in 1968.

The album was released in August 1968. At the same time, the band embarked on a US tour, and the single "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" stormed the charts (in England to number 1). In the German album charts, "Idea" reached no more than 3rd place.
