Michael Shrieve (born July 6, 1949 in San Francisco ) is an American drummer , percussionist , producer and composer .

Life

Shrieve played in Carlos Santana's band at a young age and became the youngest musician to participate in the Woodstock Festival at the age of 20 . In Michael Wadleigh 's documentary of the same name , he can be seen with a drum solo lasting several minutes.

He turned to solo projects and worked with guitarist Pat Thrall around 1976 . From 1979 to 1984 Michael Shrieve worked in the Richard Wahnfried project, behind which the German electronics engineer Klaus Schulze was hiding .

Shrieve collaborated with musicians of various styles and played the drums on the first solo LP by Supertramp member Roger Hodgson . He has also worked with Andy Summers , Steve Roach , Stomu Yamashta , David Beal , Jonas Hellborg , Douglas September , Buckethead and Mick Jagger .

Shrieve lives in Seattle and Los Angeles . He works, among other things, as musical director of the Seattle theater group More Music @ The Moore . "

In 2016, Rolling Stone listed Shrieve 74th of the 100 best drummers of all time .
