Amon Tobin
Amon Adonai Santos de Araujo Tobin (born February 7, 1972 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian musician and DJ who is known for his sound structures made of jazz , samba and drum-and-bass fragments. Life
Born in Brazil, Amon Tobin, who sees himself as a Brazilian, came to Great Britain with his family as a child , where he grew up. In 2003 he moved to Montreal .
Initially, Tobin was interested in hip-hop , blues and jazz. He released four EPs and one album under the stage name Cujo before signing a recording deal with the Ninja Tune label in 1996 . After a career break of four years, he signed a contract with Ubisoft , a software manufacturer for computer games. There he composed 2 soundtracks for the game Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (released in 2005 and 2011). Amon Tobin was also involved in the score and soundtrack of the film Taxidermia in 2006 . In film 21 he is also represented with the song Always , which has already appeared on his album . In 2009 he released his first album under the pseudonym Two Fingers.
The song Slowly from Tobin's album Supermodified was used in the soundtrack of the BBC natural film Our Earth . For the television series Orphan Black he composed the title song.
Tobin worked with Bonobo , Kid Koala , Mike Patton and Noisia , among others .
In April 2015 a Record Store Day exclusive EP from Tobin, Dark Jovian, was released .
style
Tobin's music is based on an intensive use of samples , of which he uses up to 80 in a single song. He often resorts to hip-hop , jazz and drum and bass pieces. To avoid copyright problems, he uses appropriate filters:
"I either use obscure passages that don't interest any pig, or the passages are so alienated that nobody recognizes them anyway."
