Michael Allan "Mike" Patton (born January 27, 1968 in Eureka , California ) is an American singer, songwriter , multi-instrumentalist, actor and vocal artist.

Life

Mike Patton has been the lead singer of Faith No More since 1988 ; the band split in 1998 and reunited in 2009. Before that he sang with Mr. Bungle , a band from his hometown that was founded in 1985 and has since been disbanded. Other Patton bands are the rock all-star formation Fantômas, founded in 1999 with drummer Dave Lombardo ( Slayer ), Trevor Dunn on bass (Mr. Bungle) and King Buzzo ( The Melvins ), and the band Tomahawk , founded in 2000, who perform on the published by he co-founded and operated label Ipecac Recordings .

Patton has so far processed styles of music that range from avant-garde jazz to noise and soft pop music . In addition, he uses several languages ​​when singing. For example, he wrote individual songs for Faith No More in Portuguese or German (Das Schützenfest) and contributed a cover version of Ford Mustang in French to a compilation of songs by Serge Gainsbourg . Since around 2005 he has been working regularly with John Zorn , u. a. as part of the Moonchild project . Zorn co-produced Mr. Bungle's self-titled debut album (1991) .

Patton starred in the 2005 B-movie Firecracker .

In 2006 the album Peeping Tom of his new project Peeping Tom was released . Each track on this album was recorded with one or more guest musicians, including Amon Tobin , Massive Attack and Norah Jones .

In the video game The Darkness , he lent his voice to the character of the same name . Furthermore, he has taken over the synchronization of the main character Nathan Spencer in the 2009 version of the video game Bionic Commando .

He also synchronized the screams of the infected creatures in the Hollywood blockbuster I Am Legend and the video game Left 4 Dead , as well as the angry core (Anger Sphere) in the video game portal . In 2008 he composed the score for the short film A Perfect Place . He also wrote the soundtrack for the 2009 film Crank 2: High Voltage .

In 2010 Patton presented his album Mondo Cane, named after the film of the same name . Accompanied by an orchestra, he sings Italian pop songs from the 60s and 70s. a. from the pen of Ennio Morricone or Bert Kaempfert .

Patton was married to the Italian artist Titi Zuccatosta from 1994 to 2001
