Doseone (born April 17, 1977 in Nampa , Idaho ; real name Adam Drucker ) is an American rapper . He is one of the founders of the Anticon label and a member of Themselves and Deep Puddle Dynamics . The spelling of his artist name varies between Doseone , Dose One and DoseOne .

Life

Doseone began rapping and making music seriously in college in Cincinnati . He made a name for himself locally as a freestyle rapper, for example he competed in the final round of the local Scribble Jam against Eminem, who was still quite unknown at the time. At school he learned Why? (Yoni Wolf) and they formed the band Greenthink together in 1998. Under this name, she released two self-directed albums ( It's Not Easy Being ... (1998) and Blindfold (1999)). Then Odd Nosdam (David Madson) joined the group and the project name was changed to cLOUDDEAD in 1999.

In the same year, the group Deep Puddle Dynamics (with Sole, Alias and Slug ) was founded and their debut album The Taste of Rain ... Why Kneel? to publish also the label Anticon . Among the musicians who worked on the album was the producer and rapper Jel (Jeff Logan), with whom Doseone teamed up to form the duo Themselves . Much of the founding members of Anticon, including Doseone and Jel, moved to Oakland , California in the years that followed to work together.

In 2001 Doseone met the musician Dax Pierson. Together with Jel, Jordan Dalrymple, Marty Dowers and Alexander Kort they founded the alternative hip-hop group Subtle.

On a Themselves tour in 2003 they met with the German indie band The Notwist . It turned out that both groups appreciated each other's music and the joint project 13 & God was founded.

In addition to his work as a musician, Doseone is also active as a painter , poet and animation artist . He designed several album covers of his own works and of albums by other Anticon artists. He also released the spoken word album Soft Skulls in 2007 , on which he recites some of his poems.
