In 2000 his debut album Animal Magic was released on the British label Tru Thoughts . Just a year later, Bonobo signed a contract with Ninja Tune . His breakthrough came in 2006 with Days to Come . He also appears as a solo DJ , and Ninja Tune has released two of his DJ mixes so far.
His music is usually classified as downtempo , but it also contains elements of acid jazz , ambient and other subgenres of electronic music, as well as hip-hop and soul .
