Joan Jett
Joan Marie Jett (* 22. September 1958 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania as Joan Marie Larkin ) is an American rock singer and guitarist .
Life
Jett was born in Philadelphia but moved with her family to Hollywood , California as a teenager after spending her high school years in Wheaton , Maryland .
She first attracted attention as a guitarist, songwriter and singer in the hard rock women's band The Runaways . After they broke up in 1980, she devoted herself to her solo career and had success with her new band, the Blackhearts, for example in 1981 with their hit " I Love Rock 'n' Roll " (1975 in the original by the Arrows ), with which they seven Ranked # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for weeks . The American guitar manufacturer Gibson has launched a signature model of their Gibson Melody Maker electric guitar .
In 2015, Joan Jett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with her band the Blackhearts .

Adaptation
The story of Joan Jett's first volume, The Runaways , was filmed under the title of the same name . It was released in theaters in spring 2010 (USA). The role of Joan Jett is played by Kristen Stewart . In Germany, the film was released on DVD on October 22, 2010.

Jett is a vegetarian and works with the animal welfare organization PETA to promote a meatless lifestyle.
