Dave Clark (born December 15, 1942 in Tottenham , England ) is a British musician and music manager. He was the founder and drummer of the band The Dave Clark Five , which had a number of hits in the mid-1960s and was also successful in the United States .

In 1960 Clark formed a band supposedly to raise money for the Tottenham Hotspur football club . This resulted in the Dave Clark Five , which grew in popularity and received a recording deal in 1962. Clark was the drummer and manager of the group at the same time. From the royalties of the band, which was extremely successful between 1964 and 1967, Clark earned a fortune in the millions.

From 1967 Clark turned to other activities. He acquired the rights to the British television music show Ready Steady Go . The "Dave Clark Five" broke up in 1970. In the 1970s, Clark performed briefly with the band "Dave Clark & ​​Friends".

Clark was more successful as a producer of albums with old recordings of the "Dave Clark Five" as well as with "Ready Steady Go!" Videos, which sold well in the 1980s. Clark also wrote the musical Time , which enjoyed great success in London in 1986 , first with Cliff Richard and later with David Cassidy .
