Sonny Til

Sonny Til (born August 18, 1928 , † December 9, 1981 ; actually Earlington Carl Tilghman ) was known in the 1950s as the lead and tenor singer , as well as frontman of the Orioles , which are considered one of the first rhythm & blues bands of all time .

Til led the band from its beginnings as The Vibranaires in 1947 until his death of a heart attack in 1981. Posthumously, the album Solo featuring Edna McGriff was released in 1995 , on which Tils made various solo recordings and duets (including with Frankie Laine , Jo Stafford and Edna McGriff ), which were written either between 1951 and '53 or in 1960.
