Verdine White (born July 25, 1951 in Chicago / Illinois ) is an American musician and bassist for the band Earth, Wind and Fire . He is the brother of the band's founder, Maurice White . He has played bass in the group since 1970 and continues to run it together with Philip Bailey after his brother has left.

Verdine White, with his characteristic, powerful bass playing, is one of the distinctive sound supports of Earth, Wind and Fire .

In addition to his band engagement, he also produced various artists and groups, such as the 1983 album Standing in the Light by Level 42 , and played bass for example on the Jennifer Lopez album This Is Me ... Then in 2002 .
