Jon Landau (Manager)

Jon Landau (born 1947 ) is an American music critic , record producer and manager , best known for his collaboration as a manager and producer with Bruce Springsteen . He is also chair of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations Committee .

He began his work as a critic in the first issue of Rolling Stone magazine in 1967. He compared Jimi Hendrix ' Are You Experienced to Cream's debut album , Fresh Cream . In his criticism he also devoted himself to R & B and soul with articles about Aretha Franklin and Sam & Dave as well as a posthumous appreciation of Otis Redding .

After seeing Springsteen at the Harvard Square Theater in Cambridge, he wrote in a 1974 article for The Real Paper , "I've seen the future of rock 'n roll, and your name is Bruce Springsteen." Springsteen and his band joined that night - May 9, 1974 - as opening act for Bonnie Raitt . The article was the beginning of a longstanding collaboration. Landau became Springsteen's manager and from Born to Run to Human Touch and Lucky Town also his co-producer.

In addition to Springsteen, he manages other acts such as Livingston Taylor, Jackson Browne , Natalie Merchant , Alejandro Escovedo and Shania Twain .
