Bonnie Raitt
Bonnie Raitt (* 8. November 1949 in Burbank , California ) is an American blues - and country - singer and guitarist .
Life
The daughter of Broadway star John Raitt worked with Warren Zevon , Steve Ripley and Little Feat in the 1970s . Even after years in the music scene, she had failed to achieve commercial success. Affected by alcohol and other drugs , she lost her recording deal in 1983.
In 1987 she made a comeback when she formed the background choir with KD Lang and Jennifer Warnes on Roy Orbison's television show, which received widespread attention and good reviews. Raitt also worked with Prince , who composed four songs for her in 1987, but did not publish them. The tenth album, Nick of Time , released in 1989, topped the US charts, earned it three Grammys and sold five million copies in the US alone. In the same year she played at the invitation of John Lee Hooker on his comeback album The Healer . They received a Grammy for their duet I'm in the Mood . Raitt's follow-up album Luck of the Draw was even more successful with eight million CDs sold in the US. Her live album Road Tested includes duets with Bryan Adams and Jackson Browne . In 2004 she was invited by Ray Charles to perform with him on his Genius Loves Company album “ Do I Ever Cross Your Mind? " to sing.
Bonnie Raitt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 . In 2010, her life's work was recognized by being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame of the Blues Foundation . The Rolling Stone listed her as 50th of the 100 best singers of all time and 89th of the 100 best guitarists of all time .
