Benmont Tench
Benjamin Montmorency "Benmont" Tench III (born September 7, 1953 in Gainesville , Florida ) is an American keyboardist and songwriter .
Career
He is a founding member of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers , along with Tom Petty and Mike Campbell, and has been active there since 1975. Before that, Petty, Campbell and Tench played together in the band Mudcrutch . In addition to his band activities, Tench works as a studio musician on piano and Hammond organ, among others for Johnny Cash , Bob Dylan , The Rolling Stones , John Fogerty and Alanis Morissette .
Tench wrote pieces for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, but also for other artists. 1985, authored by Tench reached single You Little Thief by Feargal Sharkey , the Top 5 in the UK and Australia. In the same year Rosanne Cash's single Never Be You (Tench / Petty) reached number 1 on the US country charts.
In 1982 he was one of the founding members of the country rock band Lone Justice with Maria McKee .
In February 2014 his first solo album was released, which is entitled "You Should Be So Lucky".
