Paul Simonon

Paul Gustave Simonon (born December 15, 1955 in Brixton , London ) is a British musician. He was the co-founder and bassist and singer of the British punk band The Clash .

At The Clash he wrote and sang three songs himself: Guns of Brixton , Crooked Beat and Red Angel Dragnet . Simonon initially played a Rickenbacker , later a Fender Precision Bass . He smashed one of these on the cover of the famous clash LP London Calling .

After The Clash, Paul Simonon founded the band Havana 3AM , which was named after a jazz title. In 1991 they released an LP with the band name as the title. Simonon designed the cover of the album. The admission was only a moderate success. In the United States it only reached number 169 on the charts.

Today Paul Simonon lives as a painter in London. On October 26th, 2006, his latest project in collaboration with Damon Albarn ( Gorillaz , Blur ) was presented at the first BBC Electric Proms . The band The Good, the Bad and the Queen released the self-titled album The Good, the Bad & the Queen at the end of January 2007 , the first single Herculean was released in Great Britain on October 30, 2006.
