Bryan "Chas" Chandler (born December 18, 1938 in Newcastle ; † July 17, 1996 ibid) was a British musician , producer and manager of various bands.

Life

Bryan Chandler began his career as a bass player in a duo with Alan Price . When singer Eric Burdon , guitarist Hilton Valentine and drummer John Steel joined them, they called themselves The Animals and became a successful rock band in the 1960s.

After the group split in 1966, Chas Chandler built the Jimi Hendrix Experience with Animals ' manager Michael Jeffery . It was also he who discovered Jimi Hendrix at the end of 1966 in "Café Wha?" In Greenwich Village and found the other musicians to found the Jimi Hendrix Experience . It was Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. Chandler produced two albums with JHE .

He also managed and produced the English rock group Slade for twelve years . During this time, Chandler bought the IBC studios and ran them for four years. He also founded Barn Records . He later helped build and develop the Newcastle Arena , a 10,000-seat sports and entertainment hall.

Chandler died of an aortic aneurysm in 1996 .
