John McVie (born November 26, 1945 in Ealing , London ) is a British rock musician who was best known as the bassist for the band Fleetwood Mac .

biography

In the early 1960s McVie played bass in the Bluesbreakers of John Mayall . In 1967 he founded the band Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green (guitar) and Mick Fleetwood (drums), both of whom had also played with the Bluesbreakers. Their music was heavily blues- oriented.

After Greens left, McVie moved with the remaining band members to Los Angeles in the early 1970s . His marriage to the band singer Christine Perfect divorced in 1977 during the recording of the album Rumors . In 1978 he married Julie Ann Reubens, with whom he has a daughter, Molly McVie.

In 1992 he released a solo album, John McVie's Gotta Band . He played at the Bill Clinton's inauguration ball with the Fleetwood-Mac cast that Rumors had taken on .

Today John McVie lives in Oahu , Hawaii . In 1998 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac .
