Gailoh is a district of the independent city of Amberg in the administrative district of Upper Palatinate in Eastern Bavaria and is located southwest of the city.

history

On July 1, 1972, the village of Gailoh was incorporated as part of the regional reform. Gailoh is an independent parish and belongs to the parish of Sankt Michael in Amberg. In the Gailoh district there is a kindergarten run by the Protestant Diakonie, the volunteer fire brigade and the Amberg-Gailoh local group for German Shepherds. In the former core of the settlement there is a chapel and several old farms. Various small and medium-sized companies are based in the Gailoh industrial park: roofers, construction and haulage companies, telecommunications companies and a large animal shelter.

Trivia

Gailoh is surrounded by many fields and coniferous forest. Sand has long been mined in the area around Gailoh. To the southeast of Gailoh, near an American barracks, there was an American Army airfield, the site of which is now used as a private traffic training area for a local driving school and training area for a dog club. In 1947, the first Kirwa (parish fair) after the Second World War was celebrated in Gailoh in the then still independent community. At the beginning of June 2007 the Gailoh Volunteer Fire Brigade celebrated its 100th anniversary.
