Bev Bevan
Beverley "Bev" Bevan (born November 25, 1945 in Birmingham ) is a British drummer .
Life
Bevan attended Moseley Grammar School and began his career in the Birmingham beat scene in the 1960s. He co-founded the band Denny Laine and the Diplomats with Denny Laine and then played with Carl Wayne in the band Carl Wayne and the Vikings . At the end of 1965 he was one of the founding members of The Move alongside Wayne and Roy Wood . In 1970 Jeff Lynne joined the band, which was disbanded in 1972 in favor of the Electric Light Orchestra project . Wood left ELO after the first studio album. Beside Lynne, Bevan was the only permanent member of the band between the band's formation in 1970 and their breakup in 1986, both held half the band rights, while all other musicians, with the exception of Richard Tandys , were paid employees.
After the dissolution of the original ELO and a subsequent legal dispute, Bevan founded ELO Part II in 1990 . Two albums were created, but they were not particularly successful commercially. Until 1999, however, they were successful as a touring band. After Bevan left the band in late 1999, he sold his 50% stake in Lynne the following year. In 2004 he revived his old band under the name Bev Bevan's Move .
He also played in various other formations, e.g. B. temporarily with Black Sabbath or for the English comedian Jasper Carrott ("Funky Moped", 1975).
