ELO Part II

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ELO Part II was a British music band from the 1990s.

Guitarist Phil Bates was a member of the rock group ELO Part II between 1993 and 1999

The band was founded by Bev Bevan , a former member of the Electric Light Orchestra music group . After their dissolution in 1987, attempts were made to give the ELO fans a “new home”. After a lengthy legal dispute, ELO drummer Bev Bevan formed Electric Light Orchestra Part II (album of the same name in 1991), ELO Part II for short , with modest success in 1990/1991 without Jeff Lynne .

With Moment Of Truth , ELO Part II released another album in 1994, but here too there was no great success. Bev Bevan sold his 50% stake in the ELO name to Jeff Lynne in 1999 . Thus, ELO Part II had to rename itself to The Orchestra without ELO founding member Bev Bevan .

ELO Part II toured all over the world between 1991 and 1999 and performed in part with well-known classical orchestras. Two live albums resulted from these tours.

There have been numerous line-up changes in the band's history. When Bev Bevan left the band in 1999, the following members were there: Mik Kaminski , Louis Clark , Kelly Groucutt , Eric Troyer , Parthenon Huxley . For Bev Bevan, shortly before the band was renamed The Orchestra, Gordon Townsend stepped in as the drummer .

Before that, the following musicians were also temporarily present at ELO Part II: Neil Lockwood , Phil Bates , Pete Haycock , Hugh McDowell (the latter only at a few live concerts).
