"A boat off the coast of the island of Jersey " was sometimes named as his place of birth - according to Laine himself, it was just a publicity gag of the 1960s .

In September 1962, Laine and friends formed the band Denny & The Diplomats . They played the blues and made some recordings, but they were never released.

In 1964 Laine left the Diplomats and a few months later co-founded The Moody Blues , with which he stayed until November 1966. On the band's first LP, The Magnificent Moodies, with the No. 1 hit Go Now , Denny Laine was the lead singer, playing guitar and harmonica. He then tried a solo career, but in June 1967 he appeared at the National Jazz & Blues Festival in Windsor with his new band, the Denny Laine Strings . These occurred there u. a. with the Jeff Beck Group and Cream , later also together with the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Procol Harum .

Since there was no success, Laine joined the band Balls in the summer of 1969, initially as a bassist, and later he played the guitar. The balls disbanded in February 1971.

After Blind Faith ended , Eric Clapton , George Harrison and Ric Grech recorded some tracks with Laine and others, but they were never released. Laine stayed with some of the musicians at Ginger Baker's Air Force . From August 1971 to 1981 Laine was a member of Paul McCartney's Wings , where he also worked as a co-author. After that, Laine began to work solo. He played with World Classic Rockers , Spencer Davis and others.
