from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jeff Beck Group was a rock band founded in 1967 by British guitarist Jeff Beck .

history

Beck had left the Yardbirds the year before and is now back on the rock stage with his own band after initially aiming for a solo career. Members of the Jeff Beck Group were Rod Stewart (vocals), Ron Wood (bass, later guitarist for the Rolling Stones ), Micky Waller (drums) and Nicky Hopkins (keyboards). The line-up changed a few times, including Aynsley Dunbar taking over drums from Micky Waller for the band.

The Jeff Beck Group released two albums, Truth (1968) and Beck-Ola (1969). Also in 1969 the band produced the album Barabajagal with Donovan , but broke up a little later - before the planned appearance at the Woodstock Festival .

In 1970 Beck had a serious car accident from which he recovered slowly; At the end of the year, however, he set up a new edition of the Jeff Beck Group with Alex Ligertwood (vocals), Clive Chaman (bass), Cozy Powell (drums) and Max Middleton (piano), in 1971 Bob Tench joined as singer and guitarist. The albums Rough and Ready (1971) and Jeff Beck Group (1972) come from this phase . 1972 was also the year the group disbanded.
