Mickey Waller

Micky Waller (born September 6, 1941 , † April 29, 2008 ) was a British drummer who has played in several well-known rock bands, such as B. at Steampacket , John Mayalls Bluesbreakers and the Jeff Beck Group .

biography

Micky Waller began his career as a professional musician in 1960 . He played in various bands before joining Cyril Davies and his All Stars in 1963 . After Davies' death in 1964 , Waller played with Marty Wilde , Kim Wilde's father , and accompanied Little Richard on a UK tour.

The next stations were Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames , then from April 1965 on The Steampacket . From 1966 he played with Brian Augers Trinity .

In 1967 Waller drummed for a short time with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers . He played for the Walker Brothers and Cat Stevens , and in August of that year he became a member of the Jeff Beck Group with which he recorded the album Truth .

In 1969 Waller took over the musical direction of the musical Hair . In the years that followed, Waller played with many different bands and performers, including Long John Baldry , Georgie Fame and Chicken Shack . He accompanied Chuck Berry , Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney .

Even after the turn of the millennium, Micky Waller occasionally performed with friends.

Waller died of liver failure in London on April 29, 2008 .

In 2016, Rolling Stone listed Waller as 78th of the 100 best drummers of all time .
