Marty Wilde
Marty Wilde , actually Reginald Leonard Smith , MBE (born April 15, 1939 in London , England ) is a British rock 'n' roll singer who was best known for cover versions of American hits in the second half of the 1950s was about Endless Sleep (original by Jody Reynolds ), Donna (of Ritchie Valens ), A teenager In Love (of Dion and the Belmonts ) and Sea of Love (of Phil Phillips ). Between 1958 and 1961, six of his singles made it into the UK top 10.
Live and act
Marty Wilde was one of the stars in music manager Larry Parnes' stable . In the early 1960s his popularity as a singer declined, but he still achieved significant sales with Rubber Ball (originally by Bobby Vee ) and Frankie Laines Jezebel . For this, Wilde wrote a number of hits for other performers, e.g. B. Jesamine for The Casuals , I'm A Tiger for Lulu and Ice In The Sun for Status Quo .
In the 1980s he wrote and produced the hits of his daughter Kim Wilde with his son Ricky Wilde .
In the course of the New Year Honors 2017, Wilde was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire by the British Queen .
