Richard Roman Grechko (born November 1, 1946 in Bordeaux ; † March 17, 1990 ) was a British rock musician ( bass , violin ). As an artist he appeared under the name Ric Grech or Rick Grech .

Ric Grech joined the band Farinas in 1965 , which was founded in 1962 by Charlie Whitney . After Roger Chapman joined them, they renamed themselves Family in 1967 .

In February 1969, Grech left Family in order to complete the new supergroup Blind Faith, which was founded after the dissolution of Cream , as the fourth band member alongside Eric Clapton , Steve Winwood and Ginger Baker . After the early end of Blind Faith in September 1969, Grech recorded some songs with Clapton, George Harrison , Denny Laine and Trevor Burton , but they did not make it to publication.

Grech therefore joined Ginger Baker's Air Force , which became the successor to Blind Faith . In the summer of 1970 he played with John Mayall , Peter Green and Aynsley Dunbar at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music . Shortly thereafter, in August 1970, Grech became a member of Winwood's band Traffic , with which he stayed until December 1971.

In January 1973 Grech played in a short-lived band called The Palpitations , which included Eric Clapton, Ron Wood , Pete Townshend and Steve Winwood. In the same year he played with the legendary Crickets , Buddy Holly's previous band .

1975 saw the birth of a new supergroup called the KGB . In addition to Grech, it included Ray Kennedy , Mike Bloomfield , Barry Goldberg and Carmine Appice . The hoped-for great success did not materialize, however. In 1976 Grech went on tour with the band Square Dancing Machine , which emerged from The Lentones .

After that it was quiet about Ric Grech, who had withdrawn from the music business. He died in 1990 of complications from a cerebral haemorrhage. Liver and kidney failure are mentioned in other sources. He had previously worked as a carpet seller in Leicester .
